PRP (platelet rich plasma) is the substance used in the O-shot; it is a product of the patient’s own blood that is reintroduced into the vagina tissues. PRP rejuvenates skin and tissues by releasing growth factors which stimulate new collagen formation and increase blood flow. The procedure is performed in the office and typically takes 20-30 minutes. First, approximately 10cc of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm by a very small needle. This blood is prepared for use by centrifugation. While the blood is being prepared, the clitoris and vaginal area are numbed with the DEP (dermoelectroporation) and numbing cream. The PRP is then isolated.
Next, a small needle is used to carefully and gently introduce precise amounts of PRP into the structures responsible for the female orgasm and pleasure, namely, the O spot (just inside the upper vaginal wall) and into the body of the clitoris and the surrounding labia minora. This procedure is painless as the numbing cream has previously been applied. This procedure can be combined with Votiva FormaV for added benefits.
New collagen formation and increased blood flow occurs over several months. Tissues will become more supple, sensitive, and elastic and will subsequently produce more lubrication when stimulated.
Occasionally, women will experience an immediate, transient period of increased sensitivity and improvement in urinary incontinence.
