The procedure is performed in the office and typically takes 20-30 minutes. First, approximately 20cc of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm with a very small needle. This blood is prepared for use by centrifugation. While the blood is being prepared and the PRP is being isolated, the penis is numbed with numbing cream using the DEP device, which through its vibration stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen. Once the area is numb, a small needle is used to carefully and gently introduce precise amounts of PRP into the corpus cavernosum and corpus spongiosum structures (the erectile tissue) which contains majority of the blood during an erection. This procedure is painless as the numbing cream has previously been applied.
